Las Vegas Grand Canyon Tours
Author:
Steve Valentino
Arizona’s pride, the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon, attracts more than five million tourists a year. This ancient marvel consists of limestone, sandstone, and shale brought about by geological processes including the erosion by the Colorado River. The early twentieth century saw the national reserve becoming a popular tourist destination. Different companies offer exciting bus, helicopter, Hummer, and airplane tours. For example, the Grand Canyon Tour Company offers terrific luxury coach tours, while some others use minivans at times. There are scenic tours to the Grand Canyon South Rim National Park. Also fascinating are the Indian heritage sites. National Geographic certified cruises and rides are also offered. There are lovely lodges and places to eat on these sightseeing adventures. The coaches take about fourteen hours. The air tours take you from top to bottom of the magnificent Grand Canyon. There are combination tours, say a helicopter ride to the west rim of the canyon and then a ride on the Colorado River from the bottom of the gorge. The flight takes you from Las Vegas, flying over Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. If these tours are beyond your budget, then you can always enjoy the six-hour drive. The north rim is closed for the winter, unlike the south rim. One can visit the Zion National Park too. The grandeur is breathtaking at sunrise and sunset—a photographer’s dream! Some of the tour operators are Papillon, Look Tours, Gateway Airlines, etc. Some companies offer discounts for reservations made online. Most of these tours include hotel pick-up and drop-off and other luxuries, from the glitter of Las Vegas, onto the Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Colorado River to the Grand Canyon Railway in Williams, and finally the impressive canyon! Las Vegas Tours provides detailed information on Las Vegas Tours, Las Vegas Grand Canyon Tours, Las Vegas Helicopter Tours, Las Vegas Bus Tours and more. Las Vegas Tours is affiliated with Las Vegas Vacation Rentals.

Destination Las Vegas |
|
As a long-time resident of Las Vegas, I'm never amazed when people ask me whether or not there are actual homes here. For many, Las Vegas is nothing but casinos. The Las Vegas Strip spans just a couple miles of the city, but many who have never been here think that's all there is. There are entertainment and sights off the strip, but today I will run down some basic Las Vegas information. The main tourist area is divided into two parts. The first part is called "Downtown Las Vegas" and it was where the glitter used to be. I still remember when you could drive your vehicle through where the Fremont Street Experience is today. It was a sight to behold. In downtown Las Vegas, you'll find classic casinos such as the Plaza, the Golden Nugget, Binions Horseshoe, the Fremont, and others. For gambling, I like Binions. It's still a place that feels like a gambler's casino. The other section, which is more commonly known, is the Las Vegas Strip. Corporate entertainment at its finest—as I like to say. You could say that this is the themed part of Las Vegas. On the Las Vegas Strip there's Caesars Palace, MGM Grand, New York New York, Excalibur, Venetian, Bellagio and a slew of other themed casinos. As of this writing, the famous Stardust has just closed down and will be imploded in 2007. Today, Vegas' motto is out with the old and in with the new. There's only so much space to build upon and Las Vegas is beginning to go vertical—lots of high-rise condos being built. If you are looking for a friendlier atmosphere, lower table limits and don't mind a lack of top shows, downtown Las Vegas will be a place you might like. There's entertainment there, but you won't find the top shows like Blue Man Group. The Las Vegas Strip has casinos that are the top of the line, but it has... |
